Erice: The Medieval Village Up The Mountain | The Sicilian Wanderer | Video

A lovely place, full of childhood memories and beautiful colours. Erice is one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy, with a long and troubled history. Founded by the Phoenicians, Erice was destroyed by the Carthaginians during the First Punic War, saw a steep decline during the Arab domination and went back to its glory days with the Normans, in the High Middle Ages.

Some of the best ceramics are right here, in this small town. Check out how beautiful Dorotea’s and Ledacrea shops are! Take a break with me and enjoy a true Sicilian lunch at the Ristorante San Rocco in this beautiful medieval village.
