Help us build an interactive map of Sicilian Emigrants around the world!

SicilianFoodCulture.com is ready to embark on a very interesting new project. As a Sicilian emigrant myself (Riccardo Favara, founder of SicilianFoodCulture.com) one of the things that have intrigued me the most and that has fascinated me tremendously is discovering a Sicilian community with practically no borders: we are scattered all over the world. Sicilian emigration, according to wikipedia, seems to have reached its peak in the period between 1880 and 1906, with about 100,000 Sicilians emigrating to the United States of America with direct connections by sea departing from the ports of Palermo and Castellammare del Golfo.
But the data in our possession are not at all satisfactory, so we want to leverage our community and create our own interactive map that will show the flow of Sicilian emigrants around the world, and in order to do this, we need your help and input!
Please find below a short form with 3 simple questions: where did you leave from (the place of residence, so not the actual departing place), where did you arrive (or settled) and when did it happen. It’s definitely going to be a lot of work, but we’re sure it will be worth it!

My Family come to America through Angel Island in San Francisco Bay. Records burnt in fire as well as family photos and information about family tree burning up in my father’s home. Was raised a proud Siclian but have lost memories of family background.
Both my parents came as teenagers through Ellis Island in 1922
This will be interesting
My grandparents emigrated well over 100 years ago. Your survey is lacking. My grandparents came from different parts of Sicily: Caltabellotta in Agrigento (my maternal grandparents) Misilmeri (Palermo) (my paternal grandmother) and Messina my paternal grandfather. I think that is important information. They all left from Palermo, but more important is the villages, towns, cities, and provinces of origin. Just my opinion. Thank you.
🙂 I thought it was clear enough that with the first question (place of residence) we are asking for the town of origin, and that’s also specified directly on the form. I’ve added an additional note, hopefully that will help address the misunderstanding, but lots of people got it right in the first place, so the data right now looks all right 😉
My father came from Nisseria. My mother came from Nicosia
Both came as teenagers in 1922.
