The 10 most famous symbols of Sicily in the world
When you think of Sicily there are many symbols that come to mind, but there are some of them that among others clearly represent the island in the world. Some objects that immediately make you think of this wonderful land, as soon as you see them. Today we have decided to collect what we think are the 10 most famous symbols of Sicily in the world.
Triscele
Let’s start with the most famous one, which is also found in the flag. It is an ancient Celtic symbol formed by 3 spirals joined in a central point, more generally three spirals intertwined or by extension any other symbol with three protuberances and a triple rotational symmetry. Only later was the representation of a being with three legs (from the ancient Greek: τρισκελής, triskelḗs). The history of the ancient Triscele is articulated and complex and in some ways still shrouded in mystery because it is linked to mythology. According to scholars, it is an Indo symbol.
The Sicilian cart
Used for the transport of goods, in use throughout the Sicilian territory from the nineteenth century until the second half of the twentieth century, then became obsolete because of the increasing motorization of work in the countryside.
Built with different qualities of wood, often embellished with bucolic carvings and gaudy pictorial decorations, nowadays it has become a craft art object, as well as one of the symbols of Sicilian folkloristic iconography.

Known as marranzànu, mariòlu or ngannalarrùni and is often used in Sicilian music to accompany songs and tarantella.
Coppola
It does not need any introduction. It is a cap with a small visor and a dome that is basically flat or wedged. Available in different models and in a wide variety of fabrics, it is a headgear common to several cultures and countries, but in Italy, its use is particularly dear to the Sicilian costume. We decided to associate these three flowers, first of all, because their scent is beautiful and secondly because you just need to smell it to immediately imagine a beautiful landscape of Sicily.
