The best olive oil in the world is Sicilian

The winner of the fourth edition of Olio Nuovo Days, event curated by Emmanuelle Dechelette that this year was held in Paris, is Sicilian. The winning oil is the “Magihouse Valle dell’Inferno – Family Reserve” produced by the Marino-Giambrone family in Cammarata, Agrigento.
During the Olio Nuovo Days competition, another Sicilian oil, the Bona Fortuna di Corleone, was also awarded the prize for the best packaging. Valle dell’Inferno is produced in a small valley in Cammarata called “Valle dell’Inferno” – valley of hell. The locality is characterized by strong temperature changes that affect the chemical properties and the level of antioxidants in the oils. This environmental condition often occurs in the territory of Cammarata and in the Sicilian hinterland.
During the summer period, the plants are subjected to considerable thermal stress, producing oils with medium to intense fruitiness and high levels of bitterness and pungency. These are sensory characteristics that denote high quality, linked to the precious native heritage of Cerasuola, Biancolilla, Nocellara del Belice, Tonda Iblea and Moresca olives.
The “Valle dell’Inferno” oil, in 2018, also won a gold medal at the “New York International Olive Oil” and two silver medals at the “Olive Japan” and the “EVO International Olive Oil Contest of Paestum”.

This family reserve exclusively embraces the olive grove estate where important Sicilian heritage varieties such as Cerasuola, Tonda Iblea, Nocellara del Belice and Biancolilla are present. It is indeed here where an excellent extra virgin olive oil, cold extracted and unfiltered, with a medium fluidity and green fruitiness is produced. Its medium bitterness and mostly pungency bestows a flavor of tomato, artichoke and almond.
This delectable extra virgin olive oil is suitable for a variety of delicious dishes. It is well balanced and consistent with a delicate aroma of autumnal and exotic fruits. It will enhance any meal, ideal with salads, vegetables, soups and especially carpaccio, tartare of fish and meat.

It’s not an easy oil to find online, but we know for sure that the olives from Nocellara del Belice really makes the difference! Thus, we’d like to suggest an olive oil that we’ve tried and we love!
